"Who wants to play Wacken??"

Wacken Metal Battle is a band competition arranged by Wacken Open Air, the world's premier metal festival. 26 countries hold national preliminaries with the winner of each country advancing to the final competition that takes place at the Wacken festival in August. The winning band at Wacken receives a worldwide record deal, several musical instruments and amplifiers and endorsement deals with Washburn and Eden among other things.

This is the second time Iceland participates in this competition that takes place at Reykjavik downtown's Sódóma venue Saturday 13. March. The winning band is chosen by a panel of jury, with no less than 6 foreign metal music press members, booking agents and festival promoters comprising it, along with 4 respected members of the Icelandic rock and metal scene.
