More detailed information
Hafliði, Brahms & Aurora Tango
Selkorinn gives his conductor for 21 years, Jón Karl Einarsson, a farewell concert.
We begin with four Icelandic folksongs by Hafliði Hallgrímsson: Hættu að gráta hringaná, Sof þú blíðust barnkind mín, Nú vil ég enn í nafni þínu and Veröld fláa.
Next on the program is Brahms Geistliches Lied. Then we will perform three short songs by Brahms, In stiller Nacht, Abshiedslied, Dein Herzlein mild and the last of the Brahms pieces is his funeral song, Nänie which is especially beautiful piece but rarely performed because of its difficulty but it is very suitable to say farewell to Jón Karl with such song. Sinfóníuhljómsveit áhugamanna will play with us in this piece
After the intermission we will completely chance rythm and the tango will overrule.
The group, Fimm í tangó performs two finnish tangos, Haavetango – Dreamtango and Täyysikuu – Full Moon. Then the choir will perform with Fimm í tangó, Lífið, ljóðið og ég, song: Haraldur V. Sveinbjörnsson og Drykkfelld kona, song: Hafdís Bjarnadóttir. Last but not least we will perform famous Icelandic popsongs which have been arranged especially for the choir in tango, Kötukvæði, arr. Skarphéðinn Einarsson, Litli tónlistarmaðurinn, arr. Sigurður Geirsson, Við gengum tvö, arr. Kári H. Einarsson and Tondeleyó arr. Hrafnkell Orri Egilsson.
