Ernest Hemingway’s classic tale of an epic fight retold through the poetic means of Puppet Theater adapted by Bernd Ogrodnik.

First published in 1952, The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works. Told in language of great simplicity and power, it earned Hemmingway both the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and Nobel Prize in Literature.
During the 2006 Reykjavik Arts Festival Bernd Ogrodnik mesmerized audiences with the premiere of his ground-braking “Metamorphosis”, which has since traveled around the globe to great acclaim. He now continues presenting Puppet Theater for adult audiences with his version of “Old Man and the Sea”.
The classic theme of man cast against the forces of nature and courage in the face of defeat, sounds all too familiar for Icelandic audiences. In fact, rumor has it that Hemingway found the inspiration for his famed novel by reading Gunnar Gunnarsson´s masterpiece “Aðventa”, (The good shepherd), written in 1937 and later translated into English.
